Though the origins of corduroy fabric lie in ancient Egyptian Fustian cloth, the corduroy we know today was first developed in late 18th century Manchester, England. The durable cloth became the staple of workwear across the city and the two became so inextricably linked that even today, many of our European friends know corduroy as Manchester. Today, corduroy is sadly no longer manufactured in Manchester and so we work with leading partners in Europe to supply the world’s finest corduroy. Offering a range of wales (the number of cords per inch) in both cotton and cotton elastane, we provide the modern-day consumer with comfort, heritage and style.
